EU Data Act: Connected vehicles & digital services
The EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854) will apply from September 12, 2025 and defines how data from connected devices - including vehicles - may be used and shared. The aim is to give users more transparency and control over their own data.
What does that mean in concrete terms?
Vehicles and the associated digital applications generate a wide range of information, for example:
- Mileage and driving behavior
- Technical messages or battery status
- Location, tire pressure and telemetry data
- Data from services such as navigation, charging or route planning
Responsibilities
- Manufacturers and service providers are obliged to provide access to data.
- The dealership will ensure that you are informed about the type and use of the data collected before the contract is concluded.
Your rights at a glance
- Insight: You can request access to the data generated free of charge.
- Sharing: On request, the data will be made available in a secure and standard format.
- Transparency: Before signing the contract, you will find out what data is generated and how it can be used.
These rights relate to both technical vehicle data and personal information.
Access options
The data can be accessed via the digital systems and customer portals of the respective providers or directly via the vehicle.
